Coastal Carolina University graduates Class of 2016
Approximately 1,100 students were graduation candidates for Coastal Carolina University's commencement ceremonies on May 6 and 7, 2016, at the HTC Center on campus. Grand Strand businessman and civic leader Dennis L. Wade was the speaker for the event, which consisted of four separate ceremonies.

Eastern Theatre Students Perform at CREATE Conference
More than 250 talented students at Eastern Connecticut State University presented research and creative work at the university's second annual CREATE conference this past April. CREATE stands for Celebrating Research Excellence and Artistic Talent at Eastern, and is the university's premier, academic year-end showcase. At the culminating event, students of all majors presented professional posters, live music, dance performances, artwork, photography, documentaries and panel discussions.

French National Honor Society Pi Delta Phi Inducts New Members
The Assumption College Department of Modern & Classical Languages & Cultures has announced that eight new members were inducted into Pi Delat Phi, the French National Honor Society, on Wednesday, April 6. "We are excited to welcome the new members to Assumption's chapter of Pi Delta Phi," said Anthony S. Zielonka, Ph.D., associate professor of French and the honor society's advisor. "We are very pleased to recognize this group of students for their hard work, discipline, and love for this field of study." Pi Delta Phi has more than 300 chapters at universities and colleges all across the United States. To be eligible for membership, students must be in their sophomore year or above, and have gained a B average in intermediate or advanced French courses. At the initiation ceremony, inductees promise to further and develop their knowledge of and interest in the French language, culture and literature.

Lambda Epsilon Sigma
Lambda Epsilon Sigma is Stonehill College's Honor Society. The purpose of the Society is to recognize and promote scholarship. Juniors and seniors who have attained a 3.50 cumulative grade point average are invited to apply for consideration. Additionally, in order to be inducted into the Society, the student must be recommended by faculty from both within and outside of the student's major.

Seventy Named to Assumption College's 2015-2016 Track and Field Team
The Assumption College Department of Athletics has announced the roster for the 2015-2016 Assumption College Track and Field team, coached by Stacie Wentz. "I'm really happy with how this program has progressed since arriving here two and a half years ago to restructure the cross country and track program," said Wentz. "This year's team is helping us create a firm foundation for future success. We've had multiple national qualifiers in the last two years and the team is working really hard to put on our program on the map not only in the Northeast region but nationally as well." The track and field team opened its season at the Alden Invitational, which was held at Brown University in Providence, RI. The Assumption College women's track and field team broke two indoor school records as the team began the 2015-2016 on a high note.

Eastern Theatre Students Participate in the KCACTF
More than 20 theatre students, faculty and alumni from Eastern Connecticut State University participated in the annual Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF) earlier this semester. This year, Region I of the KCACTF was held at Western Connecticut State University in Danbury.

79 students inducted into the College Honors Program
On Sunday, November 1, The Assumption College Honors Program inducted 79 new members from the Class of 2019 before an audience of administrators, faculty and families. The Honors Program at Assumption College is a demanding, intensive curriculum that seeks to challenge each student to achieve his or her full potential within a supportive community of peers. Regardless of major, the Honors Program empowers students to challenge themselves and explore their passion with similarly motivated students. Students inducted into the Program are encouraged to select courses and projects that reflect their individual interests and to connect their classroom studies with experiences in the community.

Eastern Cross-Country Team Volunteers at Hartford Marathon
The cross-country team at Eastern Connecticut State University volunteered at the Hartford Marathon on Oct. 10, assisting athletes with disabilities through the races. Nine members of the team served as guide runners for blind athletes or those in wheelchairs; 12 members served as course marshals in the 5K, the race in which the majority of athletes with disabilities participated.
